Anyone who's played Diablo 2 knows that the game doesn't have couch co-op. In fact, there are no local game options of any kind. If groups want to play together, they must join online multiplayer. Diablo 2 Resurrected is a remaster of the game Diablo 2, and since there was no couch co-op in the original, neither is in Resurrected.

Having more than one player play on a single screen was not part of the original design. The D2 Resurrected Items feature also didn't make its way into a future port of the game. Since Resurrection is effectively an HD remake, there's no reason for Blizzard to add a feature that wasn't available before. If players of the original Diablo 2 wanted to play together, they either joined online or via a local area network connection.

Unfortunately, Resurrected doesn't offer a LAN option. According to an FAQ on Blizzard's website, the feature has been removed for security reasons. As for whether this will affect the Nintendo Switch's so-called local multiplayer, it's unclear. Without options for couch co-op or LAN multiplayer, fans will only be able to compete online.

Diablo 2 doesn't have a couch co-op mode and doesn't support multiplayer over LAN. Regardless of how many friends the player wants to play with, the player must join the online multiplayer game. Thankfully, players will enjoy the game on consoles for the first time ever. In addition, players can purchase a large number of unique  Diablo 2 Resurrected Items from MMOWTS to make themselves even stronger in the game.
