Early Life and Marriage
Wanrong’s father, Rongyuan, held office under the Qing dynasty until the 1911 Revolution. In 1922, she married Puyi, becoming the titular empress consort of the Qing dynasty. However, their reign was short-lived due to the imperial family’s exile in November 1924.

Life in Manchukuo
In 1934, Wanrong became the empress consort of Manchukuo, a Japanese puppet state in northeastern China. During this time, she faced political challenges and witnessed the Second World War’s impact on the region.

Tragic End
As the Soviet invasion of Manchuria unfolded in 1945, Wanrong was captured by Chinese Communist guerrillas. She endured transfers between locations before being imprisoned in Yanji, Jilin. Tragically, she died in prison in June 1946, and her remains were never found.
